stay-cation

One day during spring break, we drove to Coeur d’Alene. We needed to get out of the house and stretch out.  My kids had been helping me take care of my sister’s kids and they had been SO good.  They got to put a pom-pom in a jar for every time they helped and in return, if they filled it, we were going to have a day of fun.  We went to the park, had a picnic, went for a hike on Tubb’s hill, took an art walk, played in Figpickle’s Toy Store, scootered around, and watched a movie with LOTS of buttery popcorn.

It was a fun day and I enjoyed being around my children and learning about them, no distractions.  This last photo documents my favorite moment of the day.  On Tubb’s Hill, we sat on some rocks overlooking the lake, waiting for the sun to shine on us.  Lilli found these little yellow flowers all closed up in the shade.  She picked a few and then to her amazement, as the sun came out from behind the clouds, the flowers slowly, slowly started opening right before her eyes.  All the kids picked a few more flowers from the shade and we held them in our laps and hands watching them slowly open in the sunshine.  I felt so much gratitude for that moment.  Grateful for the lesson on patience on the cloudy days, and waiting and watching with awe as things slowly, slowly open up as the sun comes back again.  It is just like being a mom as kids are getting older.  They start to close up a little, but if I am still, and quiet and wait… they will slowly open up.

for Jillian, spokane child photographer

Because sometimes you just need to capture them just as they are – before things change.

Jillian called me and asked if I could take some pictures of her little sweetheart before he got his braces on.  Something that would change his sweet, adorable smile, change him forever.  She wanted to remember what he looked like and smiled like and I teared up as she was telling me.  What a beautiful message she gave to her son – that he was perfect and wonderful just the way he was.  It was the cutest thing ever and made me so happy.  I felt so much love for this little guy during our quick session, in-between hail downpours, because of the love coming from his mom.  THIS is what I love to photograph and feel so lucky to get to do!

Easter

Sorry I have been absent… I was a little busy the past few weeks… :)

My sister and her husband went to Hawaii for her birthday!  I stayed at home for spring break and watched their kids.  We had 9 kids!  Busy busy but fun.  :)  Hope you had a happy Easter.

(I had to threaten the boys and pull rank on them to get them to wear those bow ties…. grrr.  They looked SO cute!)

For Chanell… girls in white dresses.

LOVE this fun fun family and their adorable girls!!  How can you not?  I feel so lucky to have been able to photograph them.  We lucked out with a nice day in the middle of our cold rainy weather.  And I LOVED the beautiful creamy soft dresses that Chanell found for her girls.  So pretty!  I made mom & dad get in the last few photos… because that is what it is all about – family.  These girls are so beautiful and sweet and special because of their wonderful parents who keep everything running, together.  :)

Thank you Chanell!
